Obv. Description | Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II facing right over the mint mark Another Canadian artist, Susanna Blunt, designed the most recent effigy (since 2003) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, again accompanied by the words ELIZABETH II D G REGINA. Blunt's version recalls the effigy of George VI, who also chose to be portrayed without a crown. |
Rev. Description | The caribou on a 25 cents piece dates back to 1936 when a change in the sovereign's image on circulation currency prompted the Canadian government to modify the designs on the reverse side of coins as well. The caribou design was created by Canadian artist Emanuel Hahn and was first used in 1937. |
