General Description Juan Manuel de Rosas was an argentine militar and politician, who was elected governor of the province of Buenos Aires in 1829 to 1835, and then of the Argentine Confederation from 1835 until 1852.
Front Description The naval Battle of Vuelta de Obligado took place on the waters of the Paraná River on November 20, 1845, between the Argentine Confederation, under the leadership of Juan Manuel de Rosas, and an Anglo-French fleet. This battle - despite being a tactical defeat - resulted in the diplomatic and military victory of the Confederation Argentina, due to the high cost demanded.The resistance offered by the Argentine government forced the invaders to accept Argentina's sovereignty over the inland rivers.
