Front Description | The naval Battle of Vuelta de Obligado took place on the waters of the Paraná River on November 20, 1845, between the Argentine Confederation, under the leadership of Juan Manuel de Rosas, and an Anglo-French fleet. This battle - despite being a tactical defeat - resulted in the diplomatic and military victory of the Confederation Argentina, due to the high cost demanded.The resistance offered by the Argentine government forced the invaders to accept Argentina's sovereignty over the inland rivers. |
