General Description On September 23, 1947, the Congress of Argentina promulgated Law No. 13,010 that established the equality of political rights between men and women and universal suffrage in Argentina. Ms. María Eva Duarte de Peron was very important in the realization of that law, which involved meeting the expectations of millions of citizens and ending with a pattern of discrimination against women, for that reason she was awarded the recognition of this achievement. In a public celebration and ceremony Juan Perón signed the law granting women the right to vote, and then he handed the bill to Eva, symbolically making it hers.
Half a century after the enforcement of the rule which established the women's vote, the Banco Central se la Republica Argentina commemorates this important event with the issuance of two circulation coins with values of 1 Peso and 50 Centavos, both with similar characteristics to those currently in circulation. It was made a presentation that includes both currencies in a cardboard box with a brief historical overview and the features and specifications of the pieces minted in commemoration.
