General Description | The United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF) was established in 1946 during the first session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, establishing itself as an emergency fund of the United Nations for Childrens, in response to the devastating consequences of 2nd. World War. Fifty years after its creation, the Banco Central se la Republica Argentina commemorates this important event with the issuance of two circulation coins with values of 1 Peso and 50 Centavos, both with similar characteristics to those currently in circulation. There was made a presentation that includes both currencies in a cardboard box with a brief overview of the institution and the features and specifications of the pieces minted in commemoration. |
Obv. Description | The main impression is the image of a girl playing with a rag doll. In the upper arch shows the legend "REPUBLICA ARGENTINA" and at the bottom, “EN UNION Y LIBERTAD”. |
Rev. Description | In the central area at the top shows the UNICEF logo, and at the sides the years "1946" and "1996." Under the logo, the number "50" supported by the word "Centavos." In the upper arch, the legend “UNICEF CINCUENTA AÑOS CON LOS NIÑOS” ( UNICEF, fifty years whit the childrens). In the inferior arch shows the year "1996" and on both sides 10 faces of children representing different peoples and races arranged alternately, each of which represents five years of activity UNICEF. |
