General Description The Canadian five-cent coin, commonly called a nickel, is a coin worth five cents or one-twentieth of a Canadian dollar. It was patterned on the corresponding coin in the neighbouring United States with a beaver who a has long history in Canada as both commodity and cultural icon
Obv. Description Elizabeth II at 39 years old, surrounded by the Latin inscription ELIZABETH II D G REGINA. The inscription is an abbreviated form of the one used from 1953-1964
