General Description To mark the International Polar Year, Danmarks Nationalbank launched a new series of coins on 26 March 2007.
The new Polar series will comprise three coins, which will be issued in the period 2007 to 2009.

The second coin in the series of three with Polar motifs was issued on 26 February 2008 and is inspired by Sirius dog sledge patrol.

The coin is designed by sculptor Margrete Sørensen, who has been inspired by Greenland, the Sirius Patrol and the "Canis Major" constellation with Sirius as its brightest star.

Like the first Polar coin, which was issued in March 2007 and featured a polar bear, the new coin is minted in three diferent versions: a gold coin in Greenlandic gold, a silver coin and an ordinary 10-krone coin.
Obv. Description The obverse of the coin carries a portrait of the Queen profile.
