| General Description | The dies for this coin were prepared in the Paris Mint (hence the A mintmark), but the coins were actually minted in the Philadelphia Mint. Refer to the U. S. mint reports for 1898 and 1899, or to "Foreign Coins Struck at United States Mints" by Altz and Barton. The mintage figure excludes bad strikes of some 29,811 pieces of various denominations. Krause has noted this mintmark/actual mint difference for the 10 centavos. It applies to all the 1897 silver issues. |
