General Description | Ireland Jan. 1689 6 Pence. The Irish Gun Money coins are of historic interest, as they are the only coins that was ordered by a monarch after their deposition from the throne of England & the throne of Scotland. These are also the only coins that have the month of striking as well as the year. King James II was regarded as a pretender from his deposition in 1688 until his death in exile in France in 1701. |
