General Description : | The Order was instituted in 1948 in three classes to reward merit, especially in the field of work but in the event was awarded for achievement in a wide number of fields. In 1965, when the name of the state was changed to the Romanian Socialist Republic, the letters ‘RSR’ replaced ‘RPR’. Unlike many Communist-era eastern European awards, those of Romania are usually of good quality manufacture and this is a particularly fine example. |
