General Description : The Order was instituted on 10 May 1877 to reward outstanding service to the state and is becoming very hard to find. Please note the replacement of the red enamel of the medallion of the reverse with sealing wax.
Front Description : Blue enamel cross crosslet with rays between the arms, on crossed swords and swivel crown suspension; the face with a circular central red enamel medallion bearing an eagle, a lightning bolt in its claws, within a blue enamel ring inscribed in gilt letters ‘IN FIDE SALUS’ (salvation lies in loyalty) encircled by a green enamel oak wreath
Back Description : Circular central red enamel medallion absent and replaced with red sealing wax and bearing the crowned gilt cipher of King Carol I encircled by a green enamel oak wreath.
