General Description | Bernhard Prähauser was the first child of carpenter Bernhard Prähauser and his wife Therese. His brother Josef was born two years later. Due to the early death of his mother (1923), Bernhard Prähauser grew up with foster parents as an orphan. After compulsory school, he attended the sculpture school in Hallein, dropped out after six months and apprenticed with Jakob Adlhart in the church art and applied arts workshops Hallein. In order to be able to train Bernhard Prähauser as an apprentice, Adlhart “as an established and well-known sculptor still took it upon himself to pass a master craftsman exam for this reason. Bernhard Prähauser (February 2, 1921 in Hallein – July 24, 2016) was an Austrian sculptor. I had the honor and the privilege to personally meet master Bernhard Prähauser and his whole family! |
