General Description | Survived a fire in 1916 that destroyed most of the main building. A library clerk named Michael McCormack managed to close the iron doors connecting it to the main building and thus protecting it from the fire. The rest of the parliament building, rebuilt after the fire, is very cold and almost cathedral like. When you walk into this room, the difference is immediately noticeable, it is so much warmer and brighter. |
