General Description | Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɑ̃ syʁ ʁiʃəljø]), commonly abbreviated as SJR, is a city in eastern Montérégie in the province of Quebec, Canada about 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal. It is situated on the west bank of the Richelieu River at the northernmost navigable point of Lake Champlain.
