General Description Bujoreni Village Museum is located in the north side of town Ramnicu Valcea, is an open air museum, whose arrangement began in 1969, and in 1974 entered the visiting circuit. It is designed to reconstruct, on an area of 8 hectares, the functional image of a traditional rural settlement, with all its social and cultural institutions.
The museum is representative through its four sectors: farm-housing sector, social-cultural sector of the monuments of public utility, traditional technical handicrafts sector and construction specialist sector. Valcea traditional art is illustrated by the interior decoration of houses, in the handicraft workshops, through pottery and textile pieces, wood, metal, furniture, iconography pieces and traditional furniture.
Today, the heritage museum has 71 units of popular architecture, totaling over 12,000 museum pieces that reflect the structure of the households according to the traditional occupations, handicrafts and traditions of local communities. There are especially distinguished homes with arbour, specific to the ethnographic area of Valcea, transferred here from Maldaresti, Stoenesti, Barbatesti, Boisoara.
