General Description : | Adolphe Max (1869-1939) was a Belgian politician and journalist. He was Mayor of Brussels from 1909 to 1914 and from 1918 until his death in 1939. As he didn't want to exercise his function of Mayor of Brussels during the German Occupation in 1914, he was arrested. He escaped his prison in Goslar in 1918 to return to Belgium. He became a Minister of State in 1918. |
