General Description : | Elisabeth of Bavaria (1876-1965) was married to King Albert I and 3rd Queen of the Belgians. They had 3 children: Leopold III, 4th king of Belgium; Charles of Flanders, who was Prince-Regent of Belgium 1944-1950 and Marie-José, who married the last King of Italy Umberto II. Queen Elisabeth was known as a patron of the arts. The well-known music contest Eugène Ysaye was renamed after her and is named the Queen Elisabeth Contest for Violin, Piano, Composition and Singing. She was a friend of Albert Einstein. |
