General Description : | Canada Post Head Office in Ottawa, based on a photograph by Paul Eekhoff When Canada decided to adopt a distinctive national flag, a Senate and House of Commons Committee was set up to classify submitted designs. On October 29, 1964, the Committee unanimously voted for a single-leaf, red-and-white design, and on February 5, 1965, a flag-raising ceremony was held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Designed by Gottschalk + Ash International of Toronto, the newly-designed definitive reflects the new domestic rate ($0.48) and features the Canadian flag flying in front of the Canada Post Head Office in Ottawa, Ontario. The stamps are available in booklets of ten (random cover images), or in three attached booklets of ten, which captures the complete cover image. |
