General Description : | From the souvenir sheet Including 3 x $1.20 U.S. rates and 2 x $2.50 international rate stamps Photography: François Gaudet OFDC Cancellation Location: Lunenburg NS These sites – some more than 5,700 years old – hold clues that whisper to all who visit. The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has recognized the significance of these places, and their irresistible call has been answered by travellers from around the world eager for a glimpse into the art, culture and lives of our ancestors. Grand Pre in Nova Scotia is featured on one of five new stamps being issued by Canada Post celebrating Canadian UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Grand Pre stamp shows the church nestled among trees just turning copper as fall enters the air. The church is at the end of two fields separated by a wooden fence one field green, the other also taking on the tinge of autumn. |
