General Description : | From a series of 5 stamps. Based on a photographed taken (14 sept 2008) in Tiburon, Haiti . HS2008-L007-028 by MCpl Eduardo Mora Pineda Members of the community look with curiosity at the landing of the CH-124 Sea-king Helicopter transporting bags of rice. For decades, there was an unwritten code among backpackers off to see Europe or other parts of the world: if you want to be treated well, simply wear a Canadian flag on your pack or shirt. Canadians are known the world over for their politeness, their tolerance and their fairness and wearing that little red and white symbol ensured that a traveller would be greeted with courtesy and respect. The stylized “O” (for “O Canada”) not only acts as a symbol of our national anthem, it also serves as a means of focusing attention on the flag and its surroundings. |
