General Description : | Planned to honour the Canadian prime ministers who had not been previously portrayed. This series of two stamps, with additional issues that followed, commemorated the men of who guided the destinies of Canada from the time of Confederation. A portrait of the Right Honourable Sir Robert Laird Borden, Canada's Prime Minister during the First World War. His term of office extended from October, 1911 to July, 1920. He was born in Grand Pré, Nova Scotia, 1854, and died in Ottawa on 10th June, 1937. The stamp design originated from a photograph by William James Topley supplied through the courtesy of the Public Archives of Canada. |
