General Description : | Serie: 169, Type: P, Stamps in serie: 2 The United Nations Organization was established on October 24, 1945, in San Francisco as an international organization of almost all sovereign countries in the world, with the objective to keep peace and security of its members and on the principles of equality and self-determination. The member states are connected through the acceptance of the basic principles stated in the UN Charter. The three principal organs of the UN are the General Assembly, the Security Council and the Secretariat. In its Resolution 753 from 1992, the Security Council unanimously recommended to the General Assembly to admit the Republic of Croatia to the UN. The Food and Agriculture Organization - FAO - was founded in 1945 with the aim to raise nutrition levels and living standards, to secure improvements in production and distribution of food and agricultural products in developing countries. At the same time much of its work is committed to providing financial and technical aid to governments of these countries. |
