Stamps 302 Croatian ships - The passenger ship
The stamps were issued in sheets of 50 and in small sheet with 9 stamps. The Croatian Post and Telecommunications put on sale the commemorative First Day Cover (FDC) and the First Day Sheet. No. 302: THE PASSENGER SHIP "AMORELLA" (D) In 1988 and 1989, the shipbuilding industry Split, which has a very long tradition and great experiance in the building of various ships for shipowners from all over the world, appeared on the world market of ships for the transportation of passengers and cars with its twin ships "Amorella" and "Isabella", built according to the highest Scandinavian standards for this type of vessel, ordered by the Finnish company Viking Line. "Amorella" is the first modern ship for the transportation of passengers and cars built in Split. The ship is divided in height into 12 decks. Two decks are reserved for storing cars and trucks, with the total length of the car tracks of almost 3 kilometres. The ship cabins can put up more than 2 000 passengers, and there is the same number of seats in various restaurants, clubs and bars on the ship. Moreover, there are various meeting rooms, conference and seminar halls, with additional 300 seats. The Croatian shipbuilders have been given great credit for the ships "Amorella" and "Isabella": they have been named "ships of the year" in their class for the successive years 1988 and 1989 in the journal "Maritime Reporter & Engineering News".
