General Description : | Serie: 14, Type: R, Stamps in serie: 7 In the series of postage stamps entitled "Croatian towns" HPT- Croatian Post and Telecommunications issued a regular postage stamp -Ilok-. Motif: The medieval fortress and Franciscan church in Ilok. Ilok is a town of 6 700 inhabitants at the foot of Fruska gora (Srijem) and a port on the Danube. A settlement has existed on the site since Roman times (Cuccium). There is a well-preserved medieval fortress with walls and towers, as well as a Franciscan monastery and church with rich Baroque furnishings. The surrounding countryside is a rich wine-growing area and a developed hunting and fishing ground. The stamp was printed in sheets of 50 pieces each.The commemorative envelope of the first date of issue (FDC) and a commemorative sheet of paper were placed on sale by HPT. |
