Croatian Post and Telecommunications sells two commemorative First Day Covers FDC and the First Day Sheet. Antun Branko Šimić was a poet, literary critic and essayist. He interrupted his grammar school education in the penultimate grade and dedicated himself to literary work. He founded the literary journals "Vijavica" (Storm), then "Juriš" (Attack), and shortly before his death the journal "Književnik" (Writer). During his lifetime the only book he published was the collection of poems "Preobraženja" (Metamorphosis) in 1920. His critique, like his poems, are characterized by a strict intellectualism, but at the same time by a distinctive individuality. |
