At the 25th Olympics in Barcelona, Croatian basketball team won silver medals after playing at an equal level against the best world players - the "Dream team". Croatian waterpolo players had to surrender to the Spanish team on the 26th Olympics in Atlanta and they won the silver medal. As a consequence of a long tradition of handball in Croatia, Croatian handball team won the gold medal at the Olympics in Atlanta.
