General Description : | Rolls-Royce Limited was created over a famous lunch brokered by Henry Edmunds at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on 4 May 1904. Edmonds brought together Henry Royce, a successful engineer and Charles Rolls, the owner of one of the first car dealerships. Success with the cars led to the formation of the Rolls-Royce company in March 1906 and to the launch of the six-cylinder Silver Ghost which, within a year, was hailed as 'the best car in the world', an early "Silver Ghost" model produced in 1907 is still in working condition. It is owned by the company, and is used in charity drives and other special events. The rest is history. |
