General Description : | The lynx was a predator in central European lowland forests in former times. It is a extremely rare and protected species in Poland with an estimated population of about 200 individuals. Human hunting pressure, agricultural change, and its economic value were the reasons that the lynx abandoned the Puszcza Kampinoska in the 19th century. |
