General Description : | Georges Joseph Christian Simenon 13 February 1903 – 4 September 1989 was a Belgian writer. A prolific author who published nearly 200 novels and numerous short works, Simenon is best known for the creation of the fictional detective Maigret. Château d'Echandens, near Lausanne, where Simenon lived for many years. Issued simultaneously in France, Belgium and Switzerland (background differs) images of Simenon are based on this portrait by the Belgian artist Désiré Roegiest. |
