General Description : | Born in the late 12th century, Francis decided in his early 20's that he wanted to be a military hero. He joined the army of Walter of Briene, fighting for the causes of Innocent III of Anagni. While in Stoletium, Francis became ill. He heard a voice in an apparition say, "Why do you desert the Lord for his vassal?" In 1207 he was disinherited because he stole textiles from his father to sell to obtain money to repair a church in San Daminano. Francis followed his calling to repair churches. He also served leper colonies and spent hours with animals. |
