General Description : | Where "definitive" or regular-issue postage stamps tend to have some sort of commemoration, similar type stamps for air mail service were far more generic in design and without specific commemoration. This stamp design, issued to accommodate a new air mail postage rate for one of the foreign rates, utilizes the two globes to signify international service, and the stylized U.S. flag in the background to confirm the country of origin. |
