General Description : | The design shows the Statue of Liberty against a background that creates a halo effect. This is the later of the two stamps with the same denomination and essentially the same design. It was printed on the Giori Press of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, while the earlier version was printed on the traditional equipment used for U.S. stamps up to that point. Note that on the design shown on the previous page, the torch does not go through the wording at the top and that the wording at the bottom is small and closer to the edge of the design than it is on the other example. |
