General Description : | Vatican City commemorated the conclusion of Vatican II, the 21st Ecumenical Council of the Roman Catholic Church (December 8, 1965), with the release of this complete mint set of six stamps on October 11, 1966. The stamps feature Pope John XXIII opening the Vatican II council, an ancient Bible on ornate display stamd, Bishops celebrating Mass, Pope Paul VI greeting Patriarch Athenagoras I, gold ring given to participating bishops, and Pope Paul VI carried in front of St. Peter's. |
