General Description : | Pathé is the name of two engineers, industrial and French producers, creators, with Henri Lioret, the French recording industry. In 1894, Pathé, who ran a cafe in Paris, near the Place Pigalle, struck by the interest in the Edison phonograph, decided to try to build a similar device in a small workshop located in Belleville. The Fair phonograph, Boulevard des Italiens, Paris, the world's living room listening phonograph, inaugurated in 1894, deserves to be cited as one of the most brilliant innovations Pathé brothers. September 28, 1896, they founded the company "Pathé Frères" with their brothers Jacques (1858 -) and Theophilus (1866 -), and engage in the same year in the industrialization of the sound recording. |
